More Crazy Neighbor Hostility

August 19th, 2013 at 02:59 am

I am home from mom's. I hadn't been home 30 minutes when I heard rocks hitting the side of my house. I go out in the backyard and my crazy neighbor is out there. I asked what he was doing and he began screaming obscenities at me, and saying that my dog is ruining the fence by jumping on it (yes, the fence I paid 100% of the cost). Then he said he is going to put nails in it (unsure if he meant in a manner in which to harm the dog or not) and began hammering very loudly. I admit, I saw red. I said he is crazy, and that maybe a good psychiatrist could really help him. I went back in the house and more rocks hit the side of my house. I put my head out a window and said if he wanted to put nails in the fence, that was just fine with me, but he needs to stop throwing things at my house. He suggested I call the police.

Instead, I got out the laptop and emailed a local video camera surveillance place. I don't care what it costs, I am going to have a security camera installed to record all activity along our shared fence line. If it doesn't prevent further craziness, at least I will have hard evidence.

Update: I just had a visit from the police. Neighbor called them and claims I threatened to have someone beat him up. Also, I sick my dogs on him to attack. (He also claimed this when we were in small claims court). I said both claims are ridiculous. Then I said he was throwing rocks at my house tonight and I think he is crazy. They seemed to believe me. They said he claims my dogs bark at 1 and 2 am. I said no, my dogs sleep indoors, pet door is kept closed between 10pm and 6am, at the neighbor's request. (They asked me this long before the fence incident. It is a reasonable request, I said I would do so and I have). The officers said a security camera is a good idea.

I think that is a very wise thing to do. Stay safe. Sounds like a nut case. We were harassed by a person involved in one of my father's apartments and the messages he left on the answering machine helped the police being involved quicker.

I agree very wise idea. If you arrive home tomorrow to the same thing...it would help to start calling the police, to start that part of the trail. I believe damaging another persons property is a crime!

I suggest you take picture of any interaction with neighbor, use cell phone or digital camera until you get security camera installed and covering all angles. Take pictures of the side of house he was throwing rocks. Neighbors like that are dangerous, to you, your home and your pets.

I would also walk the fence every day to ensure that it isn't damaged.

The video taping is also a good idea to watch your house and animals, especially while you are away.

    Good luck!

If you do put up a security camera you should probably put it in a box made out of welded wire, because if he is throwing rocks at your house there is nothing to stop him from throwing rocks at your security camera and breaking an expensive piece of equipment. Did you show the police the rocks that had hit your house and any marks they made?

Wow. And I thought I had bad neighbors. This guy is unhinged. I would definitely set up a camera and save recordings of crazy stuff. If he is calling the cops on YOU, there is no telling what they could do, and it would be good to have evidence.

At the very least I would start keeping a log of everything that is said and done until you get the camera, maybe even after.

This guy is insane. It scares me to think of your peace and quiet impacted by this guy.

Ask the other neighbors if he has done anything weird to them? Has he threatened them? Also, tell them what he did to you and ask for them to keep an eye on your place.

If he continues to do this, you have to consider getting a lawyer. Your life is worth it.

Oh yes, this guy does weird things to other neighbors as well. The problem is there is no proof. You cannot prosecute or successfully sue without proof. As things are, it is my word against his and that gets me nowhere.

I believe the security cameras will either stop his craziness, or give me the proof I need to press charges.

If he does damage or attempt to damage the security cameras, that is a crime and I will report it to the police. Having a video of him doing it will certainly be helpful.

Good luck on this. Take it seriously - he is a nutcase.

    Oh wow! Wacko for sure.
I think the camera is a good idea too.
