Death of Car Battery

January 9th, 2011 at 09:23 pm

I'm supposed to be underway to BF's right now, but here I sit waiting for a tow truck to give me a jump start. My car battery is dead.

My car is a 2005 Honda Accord. The original car battery died at 35k miles. The dealer sent a tow truck, towed it and replaced the battery at their expense (still under Honda's 36k mile warranty). My car has 73k miles now, and the second battery is dead. I am beginning to suspect that Honda does not provide good batteries. This tow and new battery is on me.

I intend to spend the night at BF's tonight and Monday night. I am attending a 1 day class in a city near BF's home tomorrow for work. Hopefully, I will be underway soon so that we can enjoy the evening together.

Sorry about your bad battery experience. Things like buying batteries and tires are just no fun at all!!

Get a battery with a warranty. Then when you replace it, the next one will cost less. I've lost count of how many batteries my 97 Honda Civic has gone through.

Well, $158 later for the battery and the jump-start service, I made it to BF's about 7:30ish. No radio, no cds. Apparently, when your battery dies, you need to plug in a code to reset those. I don't remember this hiccup from the first time it died, but the dealership took care of it so that must be why. I called the Honda dealer where I bought the car, but of course the service dept was closed. The sales dept tried to help me but could not. It was a long drive, and will be another long drive in the morning. (I was in class all day and could not call.)

Ugh! I remember the hassle of the radio after the battery dying. One of the good things about not having a working radio/cd player in the car. Big Grin One of the *few* good things.
