Resisted The Purse

May 29th, 2011 at 05:40 pm

I love to have a new purse at the start of summer and winter. Of course, I love to have a new matching wallet as well. (I have a thing about my purse and wallet matching.) I don't buy expensive bags, (think Kohl's, not Coach) but even so, a cute purse and wallet can set you back $70 or so.

Last week, I took son to Kohl's to buy a nice shirt and pants for his graduation. The new summer purses were in. I must have looked at every one, and saw several that I would have loved to take home. I was still carrying my winter purse, and it was hgh time to switch to a summer purse anyway. I was soooo tempted.

Well, I resisted! As soon as we got home, I pulled out my purse storage bin and chose last summer's new purse and wallet, moved my things in, and put the winter purse and wallet in the storage bin. There, I have my "new" summer purse.

Congrats! You may have saved even more than $70, as I have seen pretty expensive purses at stores these days. Personally, I favor the comfort of my back over anything stylish. I love Ameribags because they allow the weight of the purse to be distributed across the body and not on one shoulder or the other.

Great show of restraint!! I have purses from many years back myself. I think it's been over a year since I purchased a wallet or a purse.

I'm not much of a purse girl, I tend to be happy if I have one that works and I often have to look for long periods of time, hoping that the straps on my current purse don't fall off in the meanwhile. I was lucky to find my new one when I did, a few days before the straps on the old one came off. Hopefully this new one will last a long, long time and I won't have to replace it any time soon. It's a color that can go for any season, which is great for me as I won't have to change it depending on the time of year.

Funny....I've been looking for a summer purse and can't find one I like within my budget. I'll keep parusing the thrift store. It will eventually appear and I know I won't pay more than $5 for it. Smile

Doesn't it feel kind of new when you take things out of storage after months? That's how I feel about my summer shirts.
