Februrary 2013 Budget Report

March 2nd, 2013 at 05:42 pm

Overall, not too bad.

I continue to overspend in Groceries (includes household supplies).

The cost of my car insurance and car maintenance/repair bill exceed the overage in Everything Else.

Wow! You're doing great. Food costs have increased and forecasted to increase more by summer. Do you think it's time to increase that budget category? Would you prefer to sub-categorize non food & cleaning items? Can non food items be bought for less at discount or janitor supply or dented can type outlet? Is it worth the time & gas? It's getting more popular to make your own cleaning products because of cost and the excellent outcome.

Hi Snafu, yes, I intend to bump my groceries category up a bit. It needs to reflect reality. I do almost all of my grocery shopping at a nearby no-frills grocery store.

Your budget is very inspirational to me because I find myself in extremely similar circumstances. A quick question if you don't mind sharing: If I am looking at this correctly it seems your outgo is quite a bit more than your income last month---a common problem that I have also lol...where do the funds come to cover that difference? I am currently pulling mine from savings, but this has to change as soon as possibleSmile

    Hi Miss Daisy,

I too pull from savings when my outgo exceeds my income. I transfer money each month into my "CurveBall" savings account and pull out when necessary. In February, it was my car insurance and a car repair which put me over. I actually use a rewards credit card to pay initially, then pull from savings when the credit card payment is due.

I'm glad you're finding inspiration in my budget. Best of luck to you with your own budgeting. Smile
