RedNeck Savings Bank

Just heard about this no hoops money market account, currently paying 2.5%. Their marketing strategy cracks me up.

Thought it might help someone. If you're not shopping for a new online bank, take a peek at their site anyway.

There are several members in my Choose FI Facebook group who report having accounts there. The website says they are a division of All American Bank, which was founded in 1969. To the best of my knowledge, yes, it is real.

I think it was back in 2006 that a number of people on the forums side of savingadvice.com had accounts with Redneck. Every now and then Redneck offered some incredible interest rates, but the offer seemed to expire within hours. I tried several times to open an account when they were offering phenomenal rates, but I never arrived at the website on time. I think this bank had really well-defined goals for how much money the wanted on deposits, as if they micromanaged in a way I'd never thought a bank would.

Interesting, did not know that. Just to clarify, the people who were able to open accounts, did they receive the promised high rate? Or did Redneck quickly lower the rate?

I don't remember hearing about the rates being adjusted downward later, but they must have been.
