July 1st, 2011 at 11:24 pm

The results are in. Here is how I did:

With 2 extra people in the house, my grocery spending was way over budget.

Cash allowance was over due to a planned outing this coming weekend.

what do you use to cover the overages in your budget?

    Hi Gingerbell,

Some of the overages were planned and covered by extra income. Some of them were not planned and will have to be covered by cutting back elsewhere.

Also, I keep about 1 paycheck sitting in my checking account. When I underspend, it builds up. When I overspend, it goes down.

I have some "wiggle", but not a whole lot. Knowing this helps me watch my spending.

I try to not dip into savings accounts.

I like your format. it gives me a model to try with my own budget.

    Petunia,
How did you upload your spreadsheet?

    Gingerbell,

I use the "paint" accessory (start-all programs-accessories-paint). I copy and paste from my spreadsheet into paint, then save the file. Then when I post a new blog entry, towards the bottom of the page, I click on the "browse" button and select the file I made with paint. After, there will be an image number displayed, I cut and paste that into my blog entry.

It sounds more complicated than it is. Smile
