TIAA Direct Bank

I just stumbled onto this a few days ago. There is a new online bank called TIAA Direct Bank. It is affiliated with TIAA-Cref. Their rates right now on savings and money market is 1.25%, which compares very favorably with other online banks at this time.

I have opened accounts and intend to switch from Ally. I have no loyalty, I just want the best rate I can get.

    Too funny - I just posted in the forums asking about this (banks with higher rates).

    Of course, I could probably ditch Ally, too. I don't like to move every five minutes, but do seem to switch savings accounts every couple of years. Which I am fine with (not too much hassle).

    Anyway, thanks for the heads up!!

    I opened a TIAA direct account a few months ago. I like having several different accounts. It's going to be our mid-term savings option.

    I've been enjoying the larger interest payments already!

    Good to know! I will check into changing banks once our house situation is finalized.
