Just For Fun: The Ghosts of Concerts Past

November 25th, 2014 at 09:19 pm

In my career as a music lover, I have seen the following musical artists in concert:
38 Special
Ambrosia
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
Boney James (jazz)
Bonnie Raitt (surprise appearance in Jackson's set)
Brian Setzer & His Rockabilly Riot
Cheap Trick
David Cassidy
Eddie Money
Fleetwood Mac
Foghat
Foreigner
George Thorogood & The Destroyers
Honeymoon Suite
Hootie & The Blowfish (2 times)
Jackson Browne (front row once, 2 times total)
James Taylor
Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band
Journey (3 times)
Kansas
Kool & The Gang
Little River Band
Loverboy
N'Sync (took MrsM180 when she was a 'tween)
Night Ranger
Pat Benatar
REO Speedwagon
Rick Springfield
Styx (2 times)
The B-52s
The Doobie Brothers
The Eagles (2 times)
The Outfield
The Zac Brown Band
Three Dog Night
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (front row)
Some of these cost me dearly; others were very inexpensive (like free with fair entrance). I'll have to keep thinking, I might be missing some. I've seen plenty of other local artists, who have never charted but nonetheless put on a great show. How about you? Who have you seen? Spill it!

I wouldn't even know where to begin. We love our concerts!

Your list reminded me that I once accompanied my mom to a Backstreet Boys concert. (That is her band).

I was a bit of a Tori Amos groupie in the late 1990s.

Spinal Tap did an amazing show that we saw in San Francisco. Oh, and Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony. I saw Paul McCartney at the Bridge School Benefit one year. One of those things that stands out - I at least go to see one Beatle!

Metallica with the SF Symphony? Oh, I'll bet that was a fabulous concert!

My very first concert was Donna Summer. (In fairness, I was pretty young and my mom took my sister and me for "culture", but I'm sure I enjoyed it.) I've probably forgotten several but off the top of my head and in no particular order: Rick Springfield, David Bowie, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, The Steve Miller Band, Neil Diamond (Christmas show), Billy Joel (multiple times), Rollins Band, Primus, Hum, possibly The Eagles, Chicago, Chuck Mangione, Captain and Tennille, Violent Femmes, The Nylons, Sha Na Na...

    Beach Boys
    The Grateful Dead
    Blood Sweat & Tears
    The Guess Who
    Aztec Two Step (Boston band)
    Flora Purim (Brazilian jazz singer)
    Doc Watson (legendary bluegrass/folk guitarist)
Jonathan Livingston Taylor (James Taylor's brother)
    Lucinda Williams
